Transport 3 This train left from Cairo Montenotte camp (Savona-Liguria) on October 8, 1943 to Gusen-Mauthausen, where it arrived on October 12, 1943.
Based on registration number sequence, attributed on the train arrival date (included between 2291 & 2645), the deportees total is
985.
* The arrival date to the camp is extracted from International Red Cross certificates that indicate the deportees Italian nationality. The indicated registration numbers are referred to Gusen camp matriculation. On January 23, this transport’s members were moved to Mauthausen where they received a new registration number between 50353 and 50659. Based on International Red Cross documents, the members of this train were released from Mauthausen camp between November 1943 and January 24, 1944. Based on prof. France Filipic, from Ljubjana, research, this train were compound of 999 prisoners, coming from Gorizia, Trieste, Capodistria and interned in the Cairo Montenotte camp.

* Maybe this train left from Trieste or Istria zone. The arrival date is not sure, but based on the registration number given to the prisoners from December 1 (10189) and December 18 (11076), the transport 13 should be arrived in those days.

* Mr
Valenzano’s book talks about a train of 480 deportees from Rima and about a train stop in Dachau for more than 7 days. Based on this source, 22 deportees survived until the release, but only 7 of these were able to come back to Italy.

Transport 18 This train left from Torino on January 13, 1944 to Mauthausen, where it arrived on January 14, 1944.
Based on registration number sequence, attributed on the train arrival date (included between 42271 & 42320), the deportees total is
50. This is the first transport which prisoners come from New Prisons in Torino and left from Torino Porta Nuova station. It was composed by only one stock wagon and it arrived directly to Mauthausen station.

Pappalettera’s book (1973), Mr Ferdinando Ambiveri (matr. Nr. 61546) talks about a train that left from Bergamo on April 5, 1944 and arrived in Mauthausen on April 8, composed by 340 men and 40 women. Probably in Milano two wagons sections, 1 from Fossoli and 1 from Bergamo, were linked together.
