Deportation Records Foundation – The Pina and Aldo Ravelli Library Archives

(Fondazione Memoria della Deportazione – Biblioteca archivio Pina e Aldo Ravelli)

Our objectives
The Deportation Records Foundation – which now holds all the documents relating to ANED’s 50 years of activity – was founded thanks to the commitment of ANED, and to donations made by ex-prisoners of Nazi camps and their families. The Foundation’s aim is to promote historical study, and the collection of documents and evidence regarding Nazi Fascist deportations, in order to keep the memory and the lessons learnt from this tragic period alive for future generations. Our intention is, therefore, to use these instruments to help develop the historical culture and civil awareness of young generations – working closely with schools – as to the reality of the horrors of deportation and to true nature of Nazi Fascist oppression.
The Foundation is a member of the National Institute for the History of the Italian Liberation Movement (INSMLI).

The Location
The Deportation Records Foundation is situated in Milan, 3, Via Dogana, in spacious premises donated by the family of an ex-prisoner of Mauthausen, Aldo Ravelli. For many years, these were the offices from which Mr. Ravelli conducted his business as a stockbroker. The Foundation offers a library specialising in texts and memoirs related to Nazi deportations, a reading room at the disposal of students and scholars, an archive and a conference hall with a capacity for seventy.

The Foundation is open Mondays to Fridays from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 2.30 to 5.00 p.m.
